The cutter suction dredger is a type of vessel widely used in dredging projects.
It is equipped with a rotating cutter head at front of the suction pipe, which cuts and agitates the riverbed sediment. The sediment is then transported through the suction pipe to the sediment disposal area with the of powerful pumps. The processes of dredging, transporting, and unloading the sediment can be completed continuously.
It is a highly efficient and cost-effective dredger making it an excellent underwater excavation machine. The overall length refers to the sum of the ship's length and the extension length of the dredging frame.
The dred pump is directly driven by the main engine, while the cutter head is driven by an electric motor or hydraulic mechanism.
